Playful Arts Festival is an initiative of bART, De Digitale Werkplaats and zo-ii

"[...] the twenty-first will be a century of play. Game designers  will be the architects, the storytellers, and the party hosts of this playful new world" - Eric Zimmerman (introduction Game Design Workshop)

There is a contemporary playful spirit surging through the world and playful public spaces pop up around the world. PAF aims to add to this and bring more play to The Netherlands.

The theme for PAF 2012 is "Collaborative Play". PAF 2012 will feature a 3-day exhibition, a special guest and a performance night.

With the Playful Arts Festival we aim to stimulate cross-overs between different fields of play, interaction and design. The festival wants to connect a wider audience with the spaces of play. Part festival, part showcase we celebrate playful culture.

The inaugural edition of the festival focuses on showcasing games that evoke physical and emotional responses by putting the player into action with friends and foes.

The games and interactive installations for PAF 2012 are selected for their performative and collaborative qualities. It showcases talent from the Netherlands and abroad.
