Rezone the Game launches at PAF 2012

Rezone is a crossover project between architecture, urban development and gaming. BAI asked an international group of Game Design and Development students of the HKU to design a game that creates awareness for the redevelopment of vacant buildings in the city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

The resulting game is a fun mix between Simcity and Monopoly. Gamers are in a playful manner exposed to the complex processes behind urban vacancy and their redevelopment. In this way we hope to provoke awareness, discussion and ideas about vacancy .

"In the game four players will need to work together and try to prevent the city from going down the drain. The game will be played on a table with a miniature city on top of it. With every player moving their own pawns on the table, a screen displaying their positions and the state the city is in as well as a broadcast giving updates about the game, things are sure to get hectic! Keep your head cool and try to work out the problems together!"

Rezone is a collaboration project of BAI and Digitale Werkplaats, partners of Playful Arts Festival 2012, supported by critical expert on architecture and vacancy Joep Mol.

The game will be launched during the official opening of Playful Arts Festival Dec 14, 2012. See here for the schedule.
